The school has been working towards a quality education relevant to today’s needs. The school is implementing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) school-based project with a clear strategy involving all stakeholders. This will result in better collaboration and authentic learning in a contextualised context linking all subjects, rather than being seen in isolation.
Ms Mary Rose Cordina (EO curriculum), supported by Ms Sarah Dimech (HoD Maths) introduced the school STEM. The school is now a member of the European schoolnet which created a website to support schools in achieving a STEM school label with the aim of helping schools to plan STEM activities based on 21 criteria clustered as follows:
-
- Instruction and Curriculum implementation
- Professional development of staff e.g. through curriculum time
- Assessment
- School leadership and culture
- School infrastructure
- Connections to provide quality learning in Maths, Science, Technology and Engineering.
Professional development training was provided to all educators and later an introductory meeting was held during the school council meeting to inform all stakeholders (including parents) on what STEM is all about the way forward the school is taking.
This is the Case Study – Professional Development session about STEM submitted on the European schoolnet portal.
And we now proudly present our achievement:
